Bolko Island
Bolko Island in Opole is a true oasis of greenery and one of the city's most beloved places, often called its "green lungs." It is an excellent spot for peaceful walks, bike trips, dynamic rollerblading, jogging, and any outdoor activity that allows you to escape the urban hustle and bustle.
Once called Kępa, and later Bolkowa Kępa in honor of the Piast prince Bolko, since 1910 it has served as a city park. The island's borders are defined by the majestic Oder River to the north and east, the picturesque Relief Canal to the west, and the remnant of the Wiński Canal to the northwest.
Access to Bolko is exceptionally convenient: a pedestrian and cyclist bridge connects it to Pasieki Island, and additionally, there is a bridge over the Relief Canal and Parkowa Street running along the canal. Bolko Island is the perfect place to pause for a moment, recharge, and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature in the very heart of Opole.
