Opole Philharmonic Named After Józef Elsner
The Opole Philharmonic is a place that impresses with its modern architecture and exceptional location – right above the picturesque Młynówka Canal, in the very heart of the city. Its repertoire will satisfy both classical music lovers and those seeking lighter sounds: jazz, operetta, or popular music – always performed at the highest level.
Although the Philharmonic has officially operated since 1972, Opole's musical tradition goes much further back. Already in 1947, the first professional orchestra was established here – the Small Symphony Orchestra. In the following years, it transformed into the Opole Symphony Orchestra, and later the Józef Elsner State Symphony Orchestra – named after the outstanding composer and teacher of Fryderyk Chopin himself.
The Philharmonic hosts world-class conductors, composers, and soloists, and its Symphony Orchestra regularly participates in prestigious concerts and festivals both in Poland and abroad.
The modern building of the Philharmonic also houses an atmospheric Music Club, where in a pleasant atmosphere you can enjoy aromatic coffee and let yourself be lulled by the sounds of music.
We invite you to a world of unique musical experiences in the heart of Opole!
